Customer Rating: Summary: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!! Comment: Today is my 19th Birthday and I received this as a Birthday present! I thought it was really good and just as good as the first! This time, Hellboy and his crew has to stop a Prince from raising the Golden Army and taking over the world. Abe falls in love with the Price's sister. I highly recommend HELLBOY II: THE GOLDEN ARMY!!! Customer Rating: Summary: Garbage Comment: This was horrible. They took Hellboy and made him a sissy. Everyone has a right to an opinion and that's cool, I just disagree with this one being any good. I ended walking out of the movie theater when it came out. I just tried to sit down and watch it again because it was on TV and after suffering through the whole thing. I know I was right to have left. Sure Pan's Labrynth was good but that does not mean that you have to like everything del Toro does. All they did was visual while the story itself either sucked or sucked the persona of Hellboy. Really, Freaking singing and sobbing over relationships? WTH? Why would they even include that scene? Trying to Humanize him for what? It's an action fantasy not a campaign for congressman. But it's ok, for most ppl this will be great since it's made for the masses. If you liked Idiocracy you will love this. Customer Rating: Summary: A golden sequel Comment: Hellboy II is a good sequel from the original which was a surprise hit. Great special effects and Ron Perlman is outstanding as Hellboy. Back is his sidekick friend the psychic fish guy Abe and his hot (in mnay ways) gf palyed by Blair Brown. The back story is kind of Jr tolkenish which is about an army created for a king to destroy his enemies (humans) but once he saw the carnage created he regretted the decision and put the army in storage for all time and devided up the crown that controlled them so they would never be commanded. However his son has returned from exile and wants to claim what he feels is his. So Hellboy must stop him from destroying the world and also from the temptation that is supposed to be his Destiny which is destroying the world himself. The theme of choice is very clear in this franchise. A good sequel that im sure will lead to another Customer Rating: Summary: Yeah, Baby, Hellboy Rocks!!! Comment: I really loved Hellboy, so when I heard that there was a sequel in the works, I could hardly wait to see it. I was NOT disappointed. I've been a Ron Perlman fan since Beauty and the Beast. He was wonderful then and he still is. It was nice to see him and Roy Dotrice (who played FATHER in Beauty and the Beast) reunited even if they were not in scenes together. Luke Goss as Prince Nueda (sp?) was simply fabulous. I know how he looks without makeup, so I was a little disappointed not to see his handsome face. But even in all that makeup, he was superb. And his voice sent chills down my spine. To say nothing of the thrilling acrobatic stunts his character performed. Back to Ron Perlman. He is great with the one-liners. He had me cracking up. In the red makeup and bodysuit, or out of it, he remains the consummate thespian. No, this review is not about the plot. Others have written about the plot. Or about the special effects, all good. For me, watching Hellboy 2 was an emotionally satisfying experience, like going to the movies on Saturday afternoon when you were a kid, and having a blast!
So, all criticism aside: Just see it because it'll bring out the kid in you. It's just that good.
