Customer Rating: Summary: Nah... Comment: Having seen Timur's Russian movies, I am glad to see him get some publicity in the West. He has been able to incorporate some awesome visual effects into some quite inventive action movies. However, with "Wanted:" some of the effects in this movie are the same effects I've seen in his other movies, the plot is lame and brainless and completely predictable, the performances are solid but characters are completely one-dimensional, and by the time the film was finished, I felt ripped-off. Ah well, just don't expect much and you may be entertained for at least 90 minutes... Customer Rating: Summary: Plot will keep you in the passenger seat Comment: I'm not into cars or carnage, but this movie had me glued to my seat. I thought a good time for a bathroom break would be during the breaks of the races, but that is where a lot of the plot unfolds. The best movie I've seen in forever! We were so excited that my husband, two boys and I all forgot to get ice cream after!! Customer Rating: Summary: disappointing Comment: I really wanted to like this movie because I love James McAvoy and haven't disappointed with his recent movies. However, I just couldn't do it. The plot was reminiscent of Fight Club and The Matrix. It was like Fight Club because the main character (Wesley) is working at a hum-drum job he hates and is just going through the motions, much like Ed Norton's character in Fight Club. Then this organization wants Wesley to join them and he's "set free", sort of like Brad Pitt's character did for Ed Norton in Fight Club. There were many scenes that defied the laws of physics to a ridiculous degree and there was no "but it's in the Matrix" explanation for how these characters could even do these things. I'm all for a good action movie, but give me something somewhat believable. The end left me greatly disappointed. The part where Wesley gets his revenge is great, but then at the very end there's just this big death fest and some information that leaves your eyebrows doing an Irish jig. I really wanted to like this, but I was disappointed and would not want to own it. Customer Rating: Summary: Not only an action flick... Comment: Wanted (Single-Disc Widescreen Edition)
People seem to rate this as though it's only an action flick when it is more an adult fantasy. It's the story of an hopelessly bored office nerd with greater potential than he can imagine. In effect, his boredom stems out of his potential. Although the action and acting are great the story line and moral of the story are what stood out to me.
Basically, Wesley (James McAvoy) is snatched out of what seems to be an endlessly meaningless existance, conditioned by having the heck beat out of him until he learns to fight back. After being mentored by Fox (Angeline Jolie) and deceived into killing his own father, Weslay takes control of his life. After discovering his true identity by studying his father as a supposed enemy, he followed in his father's footsteps by completing his plan to wipe out the corrupt cell of the Fraternity (Assisins of Fate) that trained him, with the help of his mentor, Fox, who was true to the code but deceived as well.
We've watched the movie multiple times and wonder: what's not to like? Customer Rating: Summary: Sleek and vibrant actioner! Comment:
Chicago accountant Wesley Gibsob (James McAvoy) feels like life is cheating on him especially his girlfriend, his loud-mouth and arragont boss that pushes him around like a high school bully, and how his father abanoned him when he was a baby. However, his life was changed thanks to a beautiful assassin named Fox (Angelina Jolie) saves his life from a mad assassin named Cross (Thomas Kretschmann) and tells our hero that he has unique superhuman abilities just like his father who was a secret assassin working for a special secret organization called "The Franternity" Whom have been assassins for many years. The leader named Sloan (Morgan Freeman) tells him what his secret is including training him to be a hitman to fulfil his destiny to be a killer but soon will discover what the Fraternity really is.
A modest and spectacular action thriller from the director of the "Night Watch" trilogy Timur Bekmanbeton. This is a very loose adaptation of the controversial cult graphic novel "Wanted" by Mark Millar as it gives us a stunning and sometimes funny yet ultraviolent look at being a fraustrated man with rage within him. The film co-stars Terrence Stamp, this film uses nifty special effects and action sequences that will remind viewers of the groundbreaking 1999 masterpiece "The Matrix" but with gore included. The acting is quite decent including Freeman whom is flawless as always and the story isn't too bad, this movie ranks along with "Rambo" as one of the best R-rated action flicks of 2008.
This Blu-Ray offers awesome picture and sound with even the action sequences to outstand you. The extras are great like alternate opening, extended scene, Profiles on teh assasins, Cast and Characters, Picture-in-Picture, featurettes, Behind The scenes of the upcoming "Wanted" video game, Digital Copy and Blu-Ray exclusives like BD-Live, Wanted Motion Comics where you can view the comic on screen with narration and sound effects and Scene Explorer which has three different perspectives with multi-angel features.
